Walkthroughs vs. Static Renders: Choosing the Right Visualisation

When commissioning visualizations for a garden design project, one of the first questions we often get is: "Should I choose static renders or a video walkthrough?" The answer depends largely on the story you want to tell and the complexity of the space.
The Power of Still Images
Static renders are perfect for capturing specific moments and key viewpoints. They allow for a high level of detail in texture, lighting, and composition. If you want to highlight a specific feature—like a bespoke water feature, a fire pit area, or the view from the kitchen window—a high-resolution still image is often the best choice.
The Immersion of Walkthroughs
Video walkthroughs, on the other hand, are about the journey. They communicate flow, scale, and the relationship between different areas of the garden. For complex multi-level gardens or large estates, a walkthrough helps the client understand how they will move through the space. It creates an emotional narrative that static images sometimes miss.
A Hybrid Approach
For many of our clients, a combination of both works best. A hero walkthrough video to set the scene and create excitement, supported by a set of detailed still renders for closer inspection. This comprehensive package ensures that every aspect of your design is communicated effectively.
